Latinx Immigration This course on immigration will be a social-historical examination of the migration and settlement of Mexican and Central American origin people to the United States. The creation of the U.S.-Mexico border since 1848 has served to create one of the world┬┐s unique separation of nations that profoundly impact the lives of Mexican immigrants and the Chicanx community, as well as other Latinx immigrants who also must pass through that border. The social construction of the U.S.-Mexico border will serve to develop a critical view of the economic, social, political, and cultural consequences of immigration.
